Omar bin Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Ashqar ( 1940 AD - August 10 , 2012 ), a Sunni religious scholar who previously held the position of professor at the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan in Amman , Jordan, and one of the figures of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan . 

Growing up

He was born in 1940 AD in the village of Burqa, Nablus Governorate , Palestine. He is from a family of knowledge, as his brother is Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al-Ashqar, one of the scholars of the principles of jurisprudence. He is married and has five children, the eldest of whom is Suleiman, and one daughter

Study

Al-Ashqar left Palestine when he was thirteen years old and went to Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and completed his high school studies there. He then completed his studies at Imam University in Riyadh and obtained a bachelor’s degree from the College of Sharia. He then worked as a librarian at the Islamic University of Medina and stayed there for a period of time. Time, then he left for Kuwait in 1965 AD, and Al-Ashqar, may God have mercy on him, continued his scientific journey by studying for a master’s degree at Al-Azhar University , then he obtained a doctorate from the Faculty of Sharia at Al-Azhar University in 1980 AD, and his thesis was on “Intentions and Objectives of Those in Charge” in comparative jurisprudence, and he worked as a teacher in the Faculty of Sharia at Kuwait University .

The Sheikh remained in Kuwait until 1990 AD , then he left for the Kingdom of Jordan , where he was appointed as a professor in the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan and then Dean of the Faculty of Sharia at Zarqa University . Then he devoted himself to research and writing, and published a good number of books and research.

He received his education from a number of sheikhs, including:
Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Suleiman Al-Ashqar , who is his elder brother and first sheikh.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah bin Baz .
And Sheikh Muhammad Nasser Al-Din Al-Albani .
Sheikh Abdul Jalil Al-Qarqashawi is one of the sheikhs of Al-Azhar.

His death

He died, may God have mercy on him, in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Friday, August 10, 2012 , corresponding to the 22nd of Ramadan, in the last ten days of the year 1433 AH, after suffering from illness, at the age of 72 years.
