Information

Ghada Abdul Hadi was born and raised by her family in the old city of Nablus. During her upbringing her family played a strong role in the development of her character. From a young age she got involved in political and social work and participated in protests managing to get injured and even detained several times. Ghada’s parents have always encouraged her to have a positive social impact on the society.

She received her education in the schools of Nablus, and continued her education through to university. When she got married, she managed to find a compromise between her education and her family. She volunteered to do medical work during the war of 1967, where she went to Qalqilia town to help the wounded people there. She witnessed the war but she stayed in Nablus with her family and did not become part of the Diaspora as she preferred to stay in her home town.

She looked forward for different means by which to serve her community. This is what gave her the impetuous to establish Hawwa Center for Arts and Culture in 1994 which plays an important role in raising the cultural atmosphere in the city. She worked hard to improve the position and situation of Palestinian woman in the cultural, social and political aspects of society. Ghada has been a member of the Palestinian National Council since 1996 and a member of the Zakat committee in Nablus. As well as this she is a founder of the “right to return” committee and is a member of other associations in the city.
