Faraj Bishara Salim al-Sarraf (born in 1919 in Beersheba - died on January 22, 2010 in Gaza) was a Palestinian lawyer, parliamentarian, and author. He was a member of the first Palestinian Legislative Council between 1996 and 2006, after he ran in the Palestinian general elections in 1996 for the Fatah movement. in the Gaza Governorate constituency and obtained 7,960 votes. His daughter Mai Faraj Bishara Al-Sarraf held the position of Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Denmark.

Faraj Al-Sarraf was born in Beersheba in 1919. He obtained his Matriculation Certificate in 1937 from the Friends School in Ramallah. He studied at the American University of Beirut in 1939-1940, and he studied at the Faculty of Law in Jerusalem, from which he obtained a law degree in 1947.

 

He began practicing law in 1948 in Gaza City.

 

He has published books in the legal field, namely: Rules of Evidence (Evidence) in the Palestinian Legislation in 1992, and Christianity and Gaza: As One of the Main Cities in the Holy Land in 1993.

 

In 1996, Al-Sarraf ran as a representative of the Fatah movement in the Gaza Governorate constituency in the 1996 Palestinian general elections, and obtained 7,960 votes and was granted one of the seats reserved for the Christian community in the first Palestinian Legislative Council. He presided over the Palestinian Legislative Council in its first session as the oldest member, and was a member of the Legal Committee and the Jerusalem Committee.
