An academic and lawyer since 1982, he worked at Birzeit University as a professor of law, and held several administrative positions, including director of student affairs and assistant vice president for academic affairs. Dr. Ghassan Farmand founded the Institute of Law at the university in 1993. He participated in developing the strategic plan for the justice sector in Palestine with the aim of unifying the judiciary and laws, and he founded the first master’s degree in law with his colleagues at the university in 1996.
Farmand headed the master's program and served as director of the Institute of Law at Birzeit University. He also contributed to preparing the first legislative drafting guide in Palestine, and the first legislative drafting diploma. And Dr. Farmand managed three judicial training programs in Palestine, in addition to contributing to holding local, regional and international conferences with the aim of building the state of law. Founded by Dr. Farmand offers a diploma in legal skills, similar to the training institutes in the Arab and international bar associations.

Share Dr. He helped prepare draft laws, the latest of which was the draft Palestinian companies law. He contributed with his colleagues in preparing the first electronic system for Palestinian legislation and judicial rulings (Muqtafi). He taught a number of legal courses at the Institute of Law and the College of Law and Public Administration, which he helped establish in 2004.

Farmand also supervised many master’s theses in law. He participated in local, regional and international conferences and courses, and participated with the Faculty of Law at Yale University in many conferences. Dr. finished. He received his doctorate degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Bordeaux in France in 1981, as well as a bachelor’s degree from Beirut Arab University in 1975. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and French. 

He has been a member of the Palestinian Bar Association since 1999, and also a member of the Jordanian Bar Association in 1982. He was a member of the United Nations Goldstone Commission of Inquiry and Fact-Finding during the 2009 aggression on Gaza, and a member of presidential committees regarding the development of the judiciary and the rule of law. He was also the president of the Red Crescent Society in Ramallah, a member of many Palestinian NGOs, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds Open University. A presidential decree was issued appointing him as a member of the Supreme Constitutional Court, effective June 1, 2023 AD.
