Dr. Elham Al-Khatib is an Associate Professor in the College of Dentistry, specializing in community and preventive dentistry. Her extensive academic background includes a doctorate degree from the University of Iowa, with a focus on improving oral health both locally and globally. Dr. Al-Khatib is actively involved in research as a member of the Public Health Committee of the International Dental Federation (FDI) and as a steering board member of several international organizations, including VISTO and SHEM. She is also co-president of the Organization of Women in Science (OWSD) Palestine Chapter.

Throughout her career, Dr. Al-Khatib has received numerous awards for her contributions to the field, including the Olav Alvarez Award and the Leverett Graduate Merit Award for outstanding achievement in public health dentistry. Her innovative project on oral health for pregnant mothers and infants earned her the SMILE Award in 2016. In 2022, she was recognized as one of the 100 Best Doctors in the World.

Dr. Al-Khatib completed her Doctorate in Community and Preventive Dentistry from the University of Iowa, a Master of Public Health from UMASS at Amherst, and a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Jordan. She holds the American Board of Community and Preventive Dentistry since 2013.

Joining the academic staff of Al-Quds University in 2013, Dr. Al-Khatib has been dedicated to teaching, community service, and research. In 2017, she assumed the role of Dean of Scientific Research, working tirelessly to foster a conducive research environment for faculty members and students alike.
