Information

Amjad Elias Salfiti, a British lawyer of Palestinian origin, was born in Jerusalem and studied at the Bishop's School and then completed his studies in Britain. He is a member of the Bar Association of England and Wales and has been practicing law in Britain since 1995. He has emerged in a number of major cases on the British, Arab and international arenas, where he defended controversial public opinion cases that had a tangible impact and contributed to changing some laws in Britain and other countries. .

The defense lawyer was in the case of the hijacking of the Sudanese plane to Britain in 1997, which gave a new concept to the defense known as Duress (the use of pressure to commit the crime), that is, committing a crime such as hijacking when the hijacker was without will, and the Court of Appeal acquitted the accused. This case was codified in criminal references in law books in Britain. He defended Alaa Hussein, who was appointed prime minister of Kuwait when it was occupied, as well as Saudi, Iraqi and Syrian opponents before the British courts who had sought protection there. He was behind the most important issues related to the interpretation of Paragraph “D” of the United Nations Convention on Palestinian Refugees in 1951.

He represented the family of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, who was assassinated in the Emirate of Dubai, and the family of Soad Hosni in her suicide case in London. He worked as a legal advisor to the State of Palestine, and was appointed by the martyr President Yasser Arafat to prosecute Juweed Al-Ghussein, Tunisia, Yemen and the League of Arab States in Britain, and he is currently heading the Arab Organization for Human Rights in Britain and Europe.
