Suad Abd al-Raouf Karman (in English: Suad Karman), (b. 1927), is a Palestinian poet and writer, who lives in the village of “Ibtan” in the Haifa district. She completed her high school studies at the Sisters of Nazareth. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English and the subject of Education from “Ornim” College. She worked in the field of journalism as an editor for the women’s corner in “Al-Youm” newspaper and on television. She also worked as a teacher of English, Arabic and Islamic religion at Abten Elementary School until In the early 1990s, she resigned from the teaching profession. She is one of the founders of the Palestinian Writers Association in 1980. She was elected as the head of the administrative board of Al-Midan Theater for a period of five years. She writes poetry and prose, her poems range from vertical to verbal, and her writings have been published in many literary and cultural newspapers and magazines.

Writer Suad Abdel Raouf Karaman was born in Haifa in 1927, and she is the sister of Abdel Rahim Karaman, known as “Abed Karaman.” In 1937, she traveled with her mother and siblings to Beirut, while her father stayed in Haifa, to enroll in the midst of education at Miss Amina Al-Maqdisi's elementary school. A year later, the mother decided to return her children home to Haifa. Souad joined the school of the Carmelite Sisters in Haifa, where she learned the Italian language. Then, in 1940, she joined a school in Gaza City, where she was taught by the Arabic language teacher, Miss Issam al-Husseini. Then she returned again to Haifa, where she received her secondary education at the Sisters of Nazareth School. She got married at the age of sixteen and began to educate herself through reading, and with the advent of the Nakba (1948) she stayed with her family in the city of Haifa, and worked as a teacher in Ibten Elementary School, then she continued her studies and obtained a bachelor's degree in English from Oranim Teacher Training College in 1981. In 1990, she resigned from teaching and limited her activities to poetry, culture and theatre.
