Born in Qalqilya 1929, where he finished his primary education in 1944, secondary education in Tulkarm 1948; started university in Cairo, graduated from Faculty of Arts in 1953, worked in the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development in Jerusalem 1954, worked in teaching in Libya 1957. Worked at the League of Arab States (Arabic Manuscript Institution) 1957, in Cairo, Tunis then Kuwait; traveled to many countries around the world searching for Arabic manuscripts, administrator of the Arabic Manuscripts Institution (1989-2004).
