Tariq Sharif Hussein Saeed Ali Mansour Al-Karmi (March 23, 1975) is a prominent Palestinian poet and writer, born and raised in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm.

Tariq Sharif Hussein Saeed Ali Mansour Al-Karmi was born in the city of Tulkarm on March 23, 1975 AD, corresponding to Rabi’ al-Awwal 11, 1395 AH. He received his primary, preparatory and secondary education in the schools of his city, Tulkarm; Where he joined Taha Hussein Primary School in Medina in 1981, then at Nour El-Din Zangi School in the preparatory stage in 1987, and spent his secondary education at Al-Fadhiliah Historical School, from which he obtained a high school diploma in 1991. After that, he joined An-Najah National University, from which he obtained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1996.

 

He worked as an employee in the Palestinian Ministry of Information, taught solfege and played the flute, then worked in the media, and worked as a producer and presenter for poetry programs on local radio stations such as Radio Bilad and Aman.

 

Tariq Al-Karmi lived in a family famous for science and literature. Zuhair Mahmoud Al Karmi, and writer Ghada Hassan Al Karmi.

 

His literary biography

He is one of the prominent Palestinian poets from the generation of the second half of the twentieth century. He was encouraged by the Palestinian House of Poetry in its early days. He organized poetry in all its forms, vertical and free, with rhythmic prose poems, and “the poet Tariq Al-Karmi is unique in his compositional manifestations in regenerating the language according to his regenerative vision of it, and for what it gives him in the growing context of poetic ability to generate images, suggestions and intense symbols.” He is a member of the General Union of Writers and Writers. Palestinians, the Syrian Writers Association, and others.

 

Poet Murad Sudani, Secretary-General of the Union of Palestinian Writers and Writers, described him, saying: “I align with the friend, the poet Abd al-Rahim al-Sheikh, and with the poetry of Tariq al-Karmi.

 

Tunisian poet Taher al-Bakri chose him in his book “Poetry from Palestine” published in French in 2013, along with Tamim al-Barghouti, Bassem al-Nabris, Najwan Darwish, Natalie Handal, Fadi Joudeh, Zakaria Muhammad, Ibrahim Nasrallah, Dima Shehabi and Ghassan Zaqtan, and they “belong to the generation that followed.” Gil Darwish strongly translates the complexity and diversity of situations and paths.
