 (The older men, Ziad, used to wear the striped “qumbaz” (dimaia) and a shirt with white trousers underneath, and they would wear a long jacket (sako) on cold days, and a wide, dark-colored Levantine belt, as we see these days in some folk costumes. As for the young men, they would wear a leather belt, while some of the wealthy would wear a narrow, brightly colored silk belt called “Shaddad Tarabulsi.” The white keffiyeh and the goat-head agal were the distinctive headwear. Remember, Ziad, the qumbaz was for work, and the dimaia was for formal life or outside of work. As for the shoes, they were of the “balgha” type, and they were made of leather, and were usually tailored in Lod and other cities.)
